Software Engineer - SME

Primary Responsibilities

Provide project management, User Interface (UI) design, User Experience (UX) research, and Software Engineering support as part of a mixed skills team
Manage accessibility and user experience program for the office
Define accessibility and usability standards and consult with development teams
Design and shape Human Centered Design (HCD) products and experiences with UI/UX focus
Conduct qualitative and quantitative research to design user experiences
Design, develop, and maintain a Multi-Brand Design System
Create reusable web components and elements that optimize user interaction
Collaborate on product direction, visuals, and user experience solutions
Identify design problems and devise solutions
Develop and conduct design sprints, UX research projects, usability and accessibility testing
Build wireframes and storyboards for design conceptualization
Establish and promote design guidelines, best practices, and standards
Manage and track requirements through JIRA
Implement customer design standards and create reusable templates
Assess, monitor, develop, report, and coordinate comprehensive accessibility program plans
Track accessibility improvement activities and recommend future initiatives
Develop enhanced testing procedures

Software development with Java and UI frameworks (TypeScript, Angular, Vue, React)
Agile/DevOps processes
Section 508 requirements and WCAG 2.1 & WCAG 2.2 AA standards
COTS accessibility issues

Qualitative and quantitative UX Research
UI Design
Wire-framing tools, storyboards, and user flows
UI/UX design best practices establishment and implementation
Complete user interface and user experience design meeting client needs and vision
Iterative design and solution development using agile/scrum processes

Experience working directly with large organizations having dozens of development teams in a primary role of promoting and improving accessibility
